RALEIGH, N.C. (AP)—Erik Gudbranson(notes) had a goal and an assist, and the Florida Panthers beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 on Tuesday night in the preseason opener for both teams.
Gudbranson, Mike Santorelli(notes) and Scott Timmins(notes) scored against Carolina starter Cam Ward(notes) on three straight shots in a span of 1 minute, 54 seconds in the first period. That put Florida ahead 3-0 less than 6 minutes into the game.

Evgeny Dadonov(notes) had two assists apiece for the Panthers.
Anton Babchuk(notes) scored a short-handed goal for the Hurricanes.

TORONTO (AP)—Nick Foligno(notes) bounced back from a knee injury with a goal, and Robin Lehner(notes) made 24 saves in the Ottawa Senators’ 5-0 preseason win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night.
Foligno was one of the few regular NHL players who dressed on a night in which both teams gave several of their prospects a chance to see action.
